Climate

The climate is as diversified as its landform features. Lowland, Northern part of the region is one of the warmest parts of country. Summer here is long, hot and winter short and mild. The annual precipitation varies from 550 to 700 mm. The time of remaining snow cover is average 50 days. In Southern mountain region – in Sudety Mountains the climate is much more severe. The annual precipitation varies from 700 to 1 200 mm and snow remains here from 60 to even 150 days in a year (longest in Karkonosze Mountains and in Śnieżnik Range). Growing season lasts here about 180 days (compared with submontane regions 200 days, and in Odra Valley over 220 days).
