Regional attitudes

The medical services are provided by 89 patient care institutions, 204 out-patient and polyclinic departments, 555 medical assistance and obstetrics centres. The anti-tuberculosis centre "Lisova Polyana" and Znamyanka balneology care centre operate in the Region.

Kirovohrad Region is a unique historical centre of Ukrainian culture, a home of the first Ukrainian professional theatre, which was founded by the outstanding stage personalities - M. Kropyvnytskyy and I. Tobilevich. Famous actors M. Sadovskiy, P. Saksaganskiy, M. Zankovetska lived and worked here. Writers V. Vinnichenko, I. Mikitenko, Y. Yanovskiy, scientist D. Chizhevskiy, composers G. Neigaus and Y. Meytus, painters A. Osmyorkin. P. Pokarzhevskiy, V. Fedorov, Ukrainian theatre personalities I. Maryanenko and G. Yura were born here. The Ukrainian theatre traditions are continued by company of the the regional music and drama theatre named after M. Kropyvnytskyy.
The theatre of folk singing and dancing “Zoryany”, the choreographic folk ensemble “Prolisok”, the honoured folk dancing ensemble “Yatran”, Kirovohrad municipal choir, chamber orchestra “Elisavet” and many others are well-known not only in Ukraine, but abroad.
